Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF - 886101
Sigma's 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF is another addition to the Sigma Global Vision Contemporary line. Designed for APS-C cameras, it offers a 27-450mm equivalent and incorporates state-of-the-art Sigma technology. This version also offers optical image stabilization for reducing the effects of camera shake at longer focal lengths and slower shutter speeds. The lens also has a maximum aperture range of f/3.5-6.3 and benefits from the inclusion of one SLD and four FLD elements. Additionally, a Super Multi-Layer coating on the elements results in less flare, improved image contrast and true color fidelity. This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware. It offers a 76.5° - 5.4° angle of view and accepts 72mm front end filters.
C - Contemporary lens
This lens is part of the Contemporary category of Sigma's Global Vision. Sigma's Contemporary lenses combine modern techniques and materials in order to deliver a concept which combines a streamlined, lightweight construction with best-in-class optical quality and performance. This compact lens is one you trust for a variety of everyday applications.
DC – DC for Digital
These are special lenses designed for APS-C size sensors so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialized design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus!
HSM - Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
OS - Optical Stabilizer
This function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating cameras movement when shooting by hand held camera.
Emphasizing Image Quality
A high ratio zoom lens often requires compactness and enhancement of additional features, to be capable enough to cover various shooting scenes with convenience and versatility. Even with a high ratio zoom lens, our goal is to satisfy enthusiastic photographers with the versatility of the lens and its optical performance. Therefore, we sought for the point where all the pieces, such as specification, performance and size, fall into place, and this lens is the fruit of this journey. Enjoy the performance of a high ratio standard zoom lens that has "the highest standard for excellent image quality based on each concept", of which product lines SIGMA has renewed and established with SIGMA Global Vision.
F Low Dispersion Glass (FLD)
Sigma's FLD glass stands for F Low Dispersion, constructed from a material equal in performance to flourite glass. This specially engineered optic element allows for exceptional correction for residual chromatic aberration. Its density is less than traditional glass, allowing the overall construction of the lens to be lighter and more efficient.
When photographing with point light sources such as electric lights or reflections on a body of water in the background, the rounded 7-blade diaphragm helps produce an attractive bokeh effect - even at large-aperture settings.
Newly Developed OS System for Better Compensation
By reviewing the system construction and the algorithm of firmware, approximately 3.5 steps higher compensation has been achieved.
